Celsian Education are looking to appoint an imaginative and passionate trainee or qualified SENCO to join a growing primary school in the Morley area of Leeds.

The primary school opened in September 2002 as a one-form entry school and expanded to two-form entry in September 2012, going into its final year of growth in 18/19. At the school they strive to work closely with local partnership schools and are always looking for ways in which they can progress and improve practice as well as learning. As a result of the career development of the well-established SENCO within the school, there is an exciting opportunity that has arisen.

The school are seeking to recruit a devoted and enthusiastic trainee or qualified SENCO to lead, develop and support effective practice for pupils with identified barriers to their learning (e.g. special educational needs (SEN), physical disabilities, EAL) to make sure that their learning needs are addressed effectively, allowing them to make progress in line with expectations.

This role would equally suit a qualified SENCO or an outstanding teacher committed to training to become a qualified SENCO. Funding for The National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination qualification would be available for the right candidate.

The post is class based with at least one day each week freed for fulfilling SENCO responsibilities. It is anticipated that class teaching responsibilities would not commence until September 2018 in order to allow time for the successful candidate to become familiar and established within the school. The year group responsibility is open to negotiation.The ideal candidate will:

  • Be QTS qualified
  • Currently hold or be committed to gaining SENCO qualification
  • Have the determination to make a real difference to the lives and progression of the schools children be passionate about teaching and committed to meeting the schools high standards.
