Celsian Education are currently working with a Secondary School located in Stockport to appoint a Welfare Leader starting in September 2018 or sooner if possible. The school, who has an Ofsted rating of good, offer 1st class inspiring and challenging education for all its students. With a long established reputation for high academic standards this schools is consistently one of the highest achieving schools in the North West of England. This is a supportive and positive role where you will providing leadership in the safeguarding of children in Year 8 & 9 and act as a key point of contact for anyone needing support or guidance. The post holder will have experience of working with young people and the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences. Ideally, you'll need to be:· Empathetic and most importantly approachable· Objective but understanding· Attentive to detail· Resilient and determined· Rationale and not quick to jump to conclusionsDay to day requirements will be, but not limited to: · Be visible and approachable by all pupils in Year 8 & 9 · Ensure that all safeguarding issues and incidents are reported and managed promptly · Experience in social perceptiveness - be aware of others reactions and understanding why they react as they do.· Provide assistance and advocacy to improve social and psychological functioning of children and their families· Offer advice to teachers and other support staff on pupil behaviours and act as liaisons between students, parents. · Ability to support all students through a variety of situations i.e. bereavements · Lease with all parents with all student related issues such as lack of homework completion, low reports/low grades · Support 2 Welfare Officers · Assist in supporting Year 9 though option choices Qualifications Required · To be qualified at degree level or equivalent · Previous experience working with children or young people· Previous education experience would be desirable To apply for this role please send in a copy of your full CV with covering letter or for more information about this role or other opportunities across the Greater Manchester area please contact Stephanie Theobald or call 0161 8398005
