Celsian will be looking for Learning Mentors to work in secondary school settings in September 2018 in West Yorkshire. We particularly desire Maths, English and Science graduates who are keen to get experience in a school environment. You may be considering doing a PGCE and keen to gain some real life experience working within your subject area - if so, this post would be perfect for you. Learning Mentors work within several areas such as Learning Support, Behaviour Support or in the Bridge (specialist resource for students with specific or moderate learning difficulties), although you may be required to work in any of these areas at times as required. The post holder will be committed to helping students in removing barriers to learning. You will need to be flexible and effective with a good understanding on how to motivate pupils to learn. The skills for the role include an enthusiasm to support each pupil to reach their full potential.You will be gaining a complete and comprehensive understanding of teaching within a supportive environment. The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:- A passion and enthusiasm to work with children.- Desire and ability to contribute fully to school life and work effectively as part of a team.- Have high expectations of self and others.- Forward thinking and dynamic.- Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
