Celsian are seeking learning support assistants to work in Pupil Referral Units (PRU) across Birmingham. The units we are working with cater for challenging youths (5-16 years) who have been excluded from mainstream education. Working in a PRU requires someone to be able to identify sudden changes in attitude and overall behaviour of students. You must have strong behaviour management. In PRUs you will also come across students with Emotional difficulties, which require a different approach. It is therefore important to ensure that a clear boundary is set between yourself and the students. All candidates will be required to have: · A minimum of 1 year experience with extremely challenging behaviours. · Ideally Team Teach trained dated within the last year. (Training can also be offered)· Enhanced DBS check / registered on the update service. · You need to supply two years of referencing. · Degree qualifications would be ideal, however you may hold an NVQ Level 3 with 2 years prior experience in Education. If you have experience of working in PRUs, Youth offending or working with challenging behaviour, get In contact with Owen Phillips in your Birmingham Branch.
