SEN Support Assistant for immediate or January Start

Would you like to have a positive impact by supporting children with special educational needs within mainstream primary schools? Do you have experience of working with children or young people with SEN in a school, nursery, or care setting?

Celsian Education are recruiting on behalf of a select number of client primary schools in the Derby City and Derbyshire area for temporary, part or full time SEN Support Assistants to work with children who require SEN support. Our schools provide quality education for children within the local area with special educations needs within mainstream primary settings, providing the foundations for their pupils' development in order for them to progress as happy, confident and effective learners. SEN Support Assistants are vital to the overall learning and development of pupils at these schools, who can tailor their approach in order to optimise the learning opportunities of pupils in their care. The successful applicant will be working with primary aged children at KS1 or KS2, with needs including ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), which includes Autism, Asperger's, and speech and language needs.

The School - Derbyshire

Primary schools with pupils who would benefit from an SEN Support Assistant for an immediate or January start include a mainstream primary school in the Long Eaton area (Derbyshire) who are seeking a part time SEN Support Assistant for pupils at KS2 (years 3 through to 6) from Jan 19 until July 2019. Under the leadership of a Headteacher who was described by OFSTED as "a talented leader" this is a safe and pleasant environment in which to work. A strong culture of safety pervades the school; pupils say that they feel safe and are happy, and parents agree that the school keeps their children safe.

The post mentioned above is for 3 days per week, Monday to Wednesday.

Person Specification - SEN Support Assistant (TA) - Derby

The successful SEN Support Assistant applicant will have strong literacy and numeracy skills; be enthusiastic, proactive and engaging; be able to provide effective support to all children and small groups or on a 121 basis under direction of the teacher, including those with special educational needs including ASD.

Successful Applicants will be subject to references and an up to date DBS with update service or be willing to apply for a new DBS.

About the Roles - SEN Support Assistant (TA) - Derby

You will be supporting pupils in Key Stage 1 or 2 on a part time or full time basis for between 2 days and 5 days per week to foster a love of learning. These roles may initially begin as daily or short term in other schools (bar Long Eaton, which is long term from the outset), but with opportunities to lead onto a longer term position, with competitive rates of pay, starting from £60, reflecting previous experience of working with children and the required workload.
