Do you have a unique ability to build relationships with pupils who are struggling to engage with their education?

Celsian Education is currently working with a number of secondary schools in Sheffield to recruit a calm and caring behaviour mentors to work on a one to one basis with pupils with challenging behaviour.

Resilient and strong behaviour management skills are essential, as well as proven experience of supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, preferably in a Secondary or SEN school environment.

You will be working with students across Key Stage 3 and 4 aged 11 - 16, all students require support to engage in mainstream education and you will be encouraging them back into the classroom by quickly building rapport and identifying the individual needs of the students.

We are looking for hard working individuals who are confident and happy working with challenging behaviour in an educational setting, you will need the following experience to be a successful candidate.

Experience working within a Pupil Referral Unit or a similar setting would be advantageous. Having a strong understanding of the social and emotional needs of young people, a resilient approach and willing to overcome challenges that will occur daily are the attributes we are looking for.

Requirements

- Qualified to Degree Level with experience of working in a school or Level 3 Teaching Assistant

- Experience working with SEMH pupils

- Ability to engage with young people with challenging behaviour

- Team Teach qualification is beneficial but not essential.

- Have experience with early intervention

- Beneficial to have worked as a one-to-one teaching assistant or Cover Supervisor
