Celsian Education are currently seeking to appoint an experienced Science Technician to join a friendly Ofsted rated 'Good' school. The post is to start ASAP and will be until the summer, it could potentially go permanent.The role is at a high achieving secondary school for pupils aged 11 to 18, located near Yardley. It is a place where students talents and abilities are nurtured in a safe creative space and where they can develop their ambitions and the power of self-determination. The visionary practice of the headteacher, supported by the senior management team and all staff, is central to the schools success.The school offers an extensive professional development programme that offers teaching and learning workshops and leadership development at all levels.The school is looking for a Science Technician, who has previous experience of working at in a school environment. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with teachers and co-operate with them in activities which contribute to the efficiency of the Science Learning Area and lie outside the teaching role. They must also be confident in taking responsibility for chemicals and health and safety for their Science students.The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. This post is subject to a DBS enhanced disclosure check.The successful candidate must:- Demonstrate recent experience as a Science technician.- Hold a relevant undergraduate degree.- Have the ability to prepare materials before lessons, issuing the right equipment to the right lab sessions- Have the knowledge of laboratory equipment and its uses and of materials and their safe handling and storage.- Be able to support the teaching staff & other technicians in the Science department.- Be an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who leads by example.- Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills.If this sounds like the position for you then please urgently get in touch and send your CV for immediate consideration
