An 'Outstanding' Special needs school is seeking an experienced LSA to join their excellent team in South Birmingham!

These students have been excluded from other special schools and all present with some self-stimulation and challenging behaviours. All pupils have significant learning needs and are autistic, all having varying communication needs and some are nonverbal.

The students are aged between 11 and 19 years of age, they all require 1-1 support most of the time and some require assistance with personal care.

You must be immediately available as this will most likely be running until the end of the academic year.

All students are in customised classrooms with specialist tough furniture and individual work stations. The pupils engage with individual and group work, the curriculum is very functional and practical. There are differing levels of communication including use of PECS, Makaton and some very simple language.

The staff rotate around the students, we do not have the same person attached to 1 student as this is detrimental to their learning.

For the children, this is their last chance at remaining in a Birmingham school. They all receive additional funding to cater for their needs. It is very different, challenging and most rewarding. It suits some people and not others.

Let me know if you would like me to forward over your updated CV!
