We have a great demand for engaging and confident staff to deliver preset lessons to pupils in secondary schools, so if you have the confidence to lead a class without teacher training. We can provide you with the skills and tools you need to make sure you have every success in this role.
Celsian Education has developed a free and comprehensive training programme for you to develop skills to become a Cover Supervisor on Monday 4th March 2019 in Sheffield.
What will I learn?
On this thorough 1-day course, you'll learn how to manage a classroom when teaching staff are absent, including covering lessons, supervising work already set and managing students behaviours. On the course, you'll cover a number of modules, including:
- How to be an effective Cover Supervisor
- Behaviour management
- Safeguarding & e-safety
Am I eligible to take the course?
If you have previous experience working with children in different areas or are studying for a degree, have already graduated or are looking for a new career, you could be trained to become a cover supervisor. You must be available to register for work with us for 2 or more days a week and have a DBS on the update service in place, or happy to process a new one with us.
Who teaches the course?
The course will be taught by an ex-OFSTED Inspector and Senior Leader with over 20 years experience in a variety of educational establishments.
Once you've completed this course we will arrange for you to shadow a cover supervisor in a school. You will then be fully competent to carry out Cover Supervisor roles in our schools.
