What is a Cover Supervisor?

A member of staff who supervise pupils carrying out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are absent in a secondary school environment.

We work with local secondary schools in Sheffield and its surrounding areas that you will be introduced to. We aim for you to build long-term relationships at these schools so you get consistency in work and becoming part of the integral school team.

What will I learn?

On this thorough 1-day course, you'll learn how to manage a classroom when teaching staff are absent, including covering lessons, supervising work already set and managing students behaviours. On the course, you'll cover a number of modules, including:

- How to be an effective Cover Supervisor

- Behaviour management

- Safeguarding & e-safety

Once you've completed this course we can arrange for you to shadow a cover supervisor in a school to give you complete confidence in the role.

Am I eligible to take the course?

You must be available to register for work with us for 2 or more days a week and have a DBS on the update service in place, or happy to process a new one with us.
