Free Cover Supervisor Training: Tuesday 9th July

Are you a University Graduate who is interested in working in secondary schools or thinking about becoming a Teacher? Why not get paid to gain experience in the classroom.

If you have experience in controlling and engaging large groups of people, have experience in a role such as a sports / dance coach, or and enjoy the buzz of working in secondary schools, Cover Supervisor work is a great way of earning an income around your free time.

Celsian Education has developed a free and comprehensive training programme for you to develop skills to become a Cover Supervisor, being held on Tuesday 9th July in Sheffield. Work will be local to Doncaster.

- Personal Trainers (working with groups of people, not 1:1)

- FE Qualified

- Functional Skills Coaches

- Army staff

- Tutors

- Prison Workers

- Experience with Young Offenders

- Overseas Trained Teachers

In this role you do not have to commit to set hours a week, we just ask you are available for 2 or more days a week. Just keep us updated on the days you are available and we'll contact you with work on those days. (subject to school bookings)

What is a Cover Supervisor?

A member of staff who supervise pupils in secondary schools, carrying out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are absent.

What will I learn?

On this thorough 1-day course, you'll learn how to manage a classroom when teaching staff are absent, including covering lessons, supervising work already set and managing students behaviours. On the course, you'll cover a number of modules, including:

- How to be an effective Cover Supervisor

- Behaviour management

- Safeguarding & e-safety

Am I eligible to take the course?

You must be available to register for work with us for 2 or more days a week and have a DBS on the update service in place, or happy to process a new one with us.

Once you've completed this course we will arrange for you to shadow a cover supervisor in a school. You will then be fully competent to carry out Cover Supervisor roles in our secondary schools. Those candidates with the relevant experience can be immediately placed into paid work.

Essentials:

- Hold 5 GCSE's including Maths and English with experience working in schools

- Degree qualified beneficial but not essential

- Ability to engage large groups of people

- Have empathy, patience and the drive to make a difference

- Capability to manage confrontation and challenging behaviour

- A positive, energetic and enthusiastic attitude
