Teaching Assistant l PRU l Salford

Celsian Education are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the Salford area who are looking for confident and dedicated Teaching Assistants to start as soon as possible to cover sickness.

Are you passionate about helping vulnerable young people? Can you use your experience and knowledge of SEND to help students to display positive behaviour?

This Teaching Assistant role will involve supporting the learning and development of key stage 4 students both on a one to one basis and with small groups. You will help the students to achieve both academically and socially, so will need a flexible approach and positive attitude. Experience working within a PRU or similar setting would be beneficial although not essential and the ability to drive with access to a car will be necessary as you will be expected to work across sites.

This Ofsted graded 'good' school is an alternative provision that caters for vulnerable young people who are unable to access mainstream education and some display challenging behaviour; so excellent classroom management with knowledge of a range of de-escalation techniques is necessary.

The school are committed to helping all young people to develop self-esteem, while making positive changes to their behaviour. Where possible students are encouraged and assisted in returning to mainstream education and receive the tools needed to succeed with future college/career life.

To be successful in this Teaching Assistant role you will have:

  • Experience supporting young people within a PRU or with SEMH
  • Strong behaviour management
  • Excellent literacy, numeracy and communication skills
  • A positive attitude and flexible approach
