Residential Support Worker l Stockport

Celsian Education are working with a residential care home in the Stockport area in order to recruit positive support workers to assist vulnerable young people with Social Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH).

Are you passionate about helping vulnerable young people? Can you use your experience and knowledge to help Looked After Children (LAC) to display positive behaviour?

This rewarding role as a Support Worker will involve working with young people aged 8 to 18 with various activities in the home while helping them to develop life/social skills. This residential care home which is based in a scenic area of Stockport has excellent facilities including a pool and access to a farm. They cater for children with a range of additional needs including; Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Attachments Disorders, ADHD and Autism; many have also experienced trauma and may display challenging behaviour. You will need to have excellent behaviour management with a calm but firm approach and knowledge of a range of de-escalation techniques. You will be expected to work across a variety of shifts including evenings, nights and weekends. Alongside a supportive staff team you will be responsible for creating a positive and safe home environment to ensure all young people's needs are met.

To be successful in this Residential Support Worker role you will need:

  • Level 3 qualification in childcare
  • Experience working with young people within a care setting
  • Knowledge of a range of SEND, specifically SEMH
  • Good understanding of safeguarding requirements
  • Strong behaviour management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team Teach or similar positive handling training (beneficial)
  • Full UK driver's license and access to a car
