SEMH Teacher - PE / Maths | Wigan

Celsian Education are working with a small special school in Wigan that are looking for positive Teachers who are able to cover PE and Maths to students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

Are you passionate about helping vulnerable young people to develop both academically and socially? Can you use your experience and enthusiasm to engage students in PE and Maths?

This is a full time role to start as soon as possible on a long term basis; and if successful may even lead to a permanent contract at the school.

This Ofsted graded 'good' special school caters for young people aged 11 to 16 years old who have a range of SEND; such as SEMH, ADHD and Children who are Looked After (CLA). The supportive staff team have high expectations of all the pupils, while being committed to nurturing every student with the skills and enthusiasm for learning that they need to succeed.

The successful teacher will be expected to plan and deliver diverse PE and Maths lessons to small groups of students in an engaging way with a flexible approach. You will need excellent behaviour management and experience working with a range of SEND would be beneficial.

You will be required to have recent experience teaching in a UK classroom. The school will consider both newly qualified and experienced Teachers.

To be successful in this SEMH Teacher - PE / Maths role you will need;

  • PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Good subject knowledge specialising in Maths and/or PE
  • Experience with SEND, specifically SEMH
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong behaviour management
  • A positive attitude and flexible approach
