Do you have the ability to quickly build relationships with students who struggle to express their emotions?

Have you got experience of supporting mild autism?

Are you looking for full-time work starting after February half-term?

Celsian Education is working with a nurturing alternative provision in Sheffield to recruit an engaging behaviour support mentor to work on a one to one basis with pupils with challenging behaviour.

You will work 1:1 with students with autism who struggle with SEMH. You will quickly identify triggers and provide students with coping strategies to manage their behaviour. Resilient and strong behaviour management skills are essential, as well as proven experience of supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, preferably in a Secondary or SEN school environment.

We are looking for hard working individuals who are confident and happy working with challenging behaviour in an educational setting, you will need the following experience to be a successful candidate.

Experience working within a Pupil Referral Unit or a similar setting would be advantageous. Having a strong understanding of the social and emotional needs of young people, a resilient approach and willing to overcome challenges that will occur daily are the attributes we are looking for.

Having the Team Teach is beneficial but not essential.

Essentials:

- Hold a TA or Health and Social Care Qualification

- Experience of supporting students of all abilities

- Ability to support students which may display challenging behaviour

- Experience of supporting ASD

- A commitment to developing the personalities, talents and abilities of all students

- An enthusiasm to learn and develop professionally

- Ability to communicate clearly with pupils of varying communicational abilities
