Special Needs Teaching Assistant - SEN TA North Leeds - Full Time Temp to Perm

At Celsian Education we are currently working in partnership with a Special School in Leeds that currently require an outstanding, dynamic teaching assistant to join their team as soon as possible.

The school is in the North of Leeds and caters for students with a variety of different additional needs, predominantly autism. Therefore, existing experience and knowledge of assisting individuals with special educational needs is essential. Makaton, Team Teach and PECs training would be beneficial but can be provided through ourselves.

Skills required:

· Sensitivity, empathy and understanding

· patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations

· to enjoy working with other people

· the ability to work well under pressure

· to be flexible and open to change

· knowledge of Autism and de-escalation techniques

· knowledge of psychology

As a special educational needs (SEN) teaching assistant, you will work with children and young people who need extra support, or require an advanced programme of learning, in order to reach their full educational potential.You may work with individuals who have physical disabilities, sensory impairments, speech and language difficulties, learning difficulties such as dyslexia, conditions such as autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, or have a combination of these difficulties.

A key aspect of working in this field is identifying individual needs and being responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment.

When working with students with physical difficulties there will be some aspects of personal care involved.

Specifics:· This is a full-time teaching assistant role Monday to Friday 8:30-15:30.

· At Celsian Education we pay the national living wage for candidates.

· You will be working with students with varying Special Educational Needs.

· Relevant training can be provided for the ideal candidate.

· The role is due to begin as soon as possible, initially on a temporary basis with the view of then going onto a permanent contract with the school after one term.
