Celsian are looking for Cover Supervisors and Teaching Assistants to work in secondary and SEN Schools from September 2020. These positions would suit graduates or undergraduate with aspirations of becoming secondary teachers, as well as people who have applied to do their PGCE, and feel that they would like more experience in the classroom. The duties as a cover supervisor are: - Covering lessons whilst the usual teacher is absent- Following the school behaviour policies to help maintain appropriate classroom behaviour- Using the resources and planning provided to ensure the students complete the set work- Where possible, providing feedback to the students on how well they are doing- Keeping the classroom clean and tidy for the teacher using the classroom after you- Being aware of safeguarding, and reporting any concerns to the designated people- Trying to keep the sessions engaging for the students. You do not have to be a subject specialist in the delivered subject, but if you can help where you can, and be proactive enough to ensure the work is being completed, this is usually enough. I am looking for confident and reliable people. The job can involve working across different schools and settings each week, and sometimes at short notice, so you would either need your own transport or be confident in using public transport. This can be the perfect opportunity to get your foot in the door of the world of education.
