Celsian Education are hiring for the below role.JOB TITLE: Welfare Lead AdvisorLINE MANAGER: Head of Welfare and SkillsJOB PURPOSE: To have day to day responsibility for support for students with welfare and medical support needs, to enable them to be successful in their studiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES To maintain a register of the students with welfare and medical needs and to ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place for their supportTo train and become part of the Colleges team of Designated Safeguarding Leads and through thisliaise with external agencies i.e. Police/domestic violence team/Social Care/LSCB in relation to safeguarding issues compile information for the annual Safeguarding Report To provide support for students through working in partnership with external agencies such as CAMHS, Social Care, and with parents/carersTo liaise with Personal Progress Mentors, Heads of Studies and subject staff to ensure that there is effective monitoring and support of academic progress, providing advice and guidance where appropriateTo complete inductions for students with medical conditions (permanent and temporary) including Care Plans and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans and ensure that evidence of support needs are recorded and passed to the examinations team for access arrangementsTo ensure that emergency procedures are created for students with severe medical conditions in consultation with the Head of Welfare and Skills and other staff as appropriate To ensure that all information relating to students with support needs is passed to relevant staff i.e. subject staff, First Aiders, Estates, Communication and Administration, providing advice and guidance where appropriateTo attend external meetings about named young people with medical and or welfare needs as agreed with the Head of Welfare and SkillsTo maintain and develop positive links with colleagues in other Post 16 centres and partner schools relation to the transition of Looked After Children and students with welfare, medical and safeguarding needsTo liaise with the Communications and Administration Manager and Connexions in relation to students with welfare support needs, such as independent livingSignpost and advise students in relation to benefits and housing and build relationships with local hostels and support agenciesTo act as the designated person for Looked After ChildrenTo liaise with the Communications and Administration Manager in relation to the Bursary for identified eligible studentsTo attend the Leicester City Looked After Children Forum meetingsTo ensure the accurate recording of case notes and reports relating to students requiring support and to ensure the safekeeping of highly confidential sensitive informationTo develop and deliver training on welfare issues as required to staff at the CollegeTo provide day to day guidance to the Welfare and Skills Mentors on welfare support matters To lead on the development of promotional materials and information relating to welfare and medical issues, working with the Welfare and Skills Assistant and other team members for the distribution of these materialsGeneralTo ensure the adherence to the Colleges policies and procedures with regard to the safeguarding of, and promotion of, the welfare of studentsTo ensure the application of the Colleges Single Equality SchemeTo ensure the application of the Colleges policy and procedures with regard to Health and Safety To be responsible for Health and Safety within areas of own responsibility To participate in the Colleges policy for Professional Development and ReviewNotes1.
