We are currently recruiting Special Needs Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants to work in a supportive specialist setting in Leeds. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be helping students with a wide range of severe learning, physical and behavioural difficulties. You will be encouraging children to communicate with others using specialist methods such as Makaton and PECS and helping students to better understand social interactions, through repetition, re-phrasing or demonstrating.

We are looking for someone who can adapt learning methods to each student needs, understanding that each child will have unique needs and therefore require you take a flexible approach and cater learning and activities to them. You will assist in putting into practice individual education, social, behavioural and personal care programmes.

This is a varied role where everyday will be different, you will be expected to support the students in the classroom, this will sometimes include working one to one and doing small group interventions. You will also be included in supporting students in social activities, outings and therapy sessions.

Your main role is to establish and maintain effective, meaningful relationships, recognising when individuals are in distress and offering the comfort and support required.

This is a full-time role set to begin in September, it will initially be a temporary role with the view of becoming permanent. Your working hours will be 8:30 to 15:30, Monday to Friday, term time only.
