At Celsian Education we are currently looking for an experienced teaching assistant who has previous experience of working with students with Hearing Impairments. The ideal candidate will hold a level 2 or above in British Sign Language and have been in a similar role using BSL recently.

You will be working 1:1 with a profoundly deaf student, bringing down the barriers of communication and therefore enabling them to have the same opportunities for learning and development.

The school:

· This role is based within a special needs school so previous experience working with students with SEND would also be beneficial. · The school is located in an easily accessible location in the Leeds area, there is parking on site and public transport links nearby. · The existing staff working in the school are extremely dedicated to ensuring that classrooms are inclusive of all needs therefore you will be joining a team of specialists who have worked hard to ensure that excellent resources are available and lessons are tailored to individual needs.

The role:

· This is a 1:1 role, you will be working closely with the student as a communication support worker. · You will be working full time, Monday to Friday and the hours are 8:30-15:30. · You may also be required to assist with other students so the ideal candidate will have experience with Autism and other special needs. · This is a long-term role for the rest of the school year with the view of going permanent with the school for those seeking permanent employment.


· You must have a BSL qualification level 2 or above and recent experience signing. · Previous experience doesnt have to be in an educational setting to be considered for this role, all candidates with the requisite qualifications will be considered. · We are looking for someone who is patient and passionate about helping with additional needs. · You must either hold a current enhanced DBS check that is registered on the online update service or be willing to put one into process through ourselves.
