We are currently working with a Special School in North Leeds who require an additional LSA to join their team from January 2021, or immediately for those who are available. The school caters for students with a variety of different SEND so they are ideally looking for someone who has experience both working with students with complex learning needs and with hearing impairments. This is a specialist setting with excellent resources for students with hearing impairments. The ideal candidate will have Level 3 in British Sign Language, but confident signers with Level 2 will also be considered.
The role of learning support assistant consists of mostly supporting a child on a 1:1 basis but also supporting and helping out within small groups under the supervision of the class teacher. We are looking for someone who has a deep knowledge of additional needs such as autism and is confident in overcoming barriers in communication. Makaton training would also be advantageous but British Sign Language qualifications are essential.
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday term time only and the working hours are 8:30-15:30. Pay is done on a daily rate and pay will be between £70 and £80 per day, dependant on level of experience and qualification level. The school is located in the North of Leeds, there is parking on site and good public transport links.
