Complex Needs Teaching Assistant - The Role
This January we require an experienced complex needs teaching assistant to join a PMLD classroom of mixed age students and mixed age ability. This class has a small number of students all with complex needs and profound and multiple learning difficulties. You must have a deeper knowledge of the needs of students with complex learning difficulties and be confident in your ability to support them throughout the school day. There will be some personal care expectations.
Complex Needs Teaching Assistant - The School
The school is situated in an area of Leeds easily accessible by car or public transport, with onsite parking. They have a wide range of excellent resources to provide for the needs of the children, as well as specialist medical staffing on site. They are looking for someone who is looking to commit to a role, long term initially with the view of going onto a permanent contract. Due to the needs of the students they need consistency therefore this role is full time, Monday to Friday between the hours of half past 8 and half past 3.
The ideal candidate will have experience using communication tools such as PECS, Makaton or sign language and be confident in breaking down communication barriers. SEND or childcare qualifications would be beneficial, experience supporting children and young people is essential.
Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check (registered on the online update service) and overseas police clearance will be required for candidates who have lived or worked outside of the UK within the last 5 years. You must be able to provide relevant and recent references.
