Celsian are looking for Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools in Leeds, either in the summer term of 2021, or in September 2021. This position is perfect for those wanting to spend more time in the classroom in order to boost your experience before going into teaching. Likewise, more experienced to cover supervisors are also encouraged to apply!We are looking for individuals who are extremely motivated and well organised, and not to mention proactive.The role over cover supervisor is a very important one in a secondary school. You will need to be able to ensure that students can experience an engaging working environment whilst their usual classroom teacher is absent. You must be able to help students to access and complete the work set and engage them in their learning and help them to become interested in the lesson content. You could be required to explain tasks to students - it is important to say that you don't have to be a subject expert in everything, but you must be confident of imparting knowledge where you can!You may be required to extend or challenge students where appropriate and approach your work with a creative and adaptive style. Behaviour management is a key component of cover supervising, and you must feel confident in applying the school policy.If you feel like you can help students to get the most out of the lesson and are keen to work with students to achieve this, these positions could well suit you. We have demand from schools throughout West Yorkshire, but primarily in Leeds, so ideally you would be available to work up to five days a week, and not be afraid to work in several different schools each week. Flexibility is key, and access to your own transport is an advantage.
