At Celsian Education we are currently looking for teaching assistants to join our team, working in special needs and mainstream schools across the Leeds area. We help schools with unfilled vacancies, short term cover and sicknesses therefore we can offer long term placements or flexible daily cover for those who need flexibility in their working life.
This is an excellent opportunity for those who have a background of working with children but also for those who are considering a career in education. You will be making a difference to the lives and development of vulnerable children and gaining valuable experience along the way.
Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs in an educational or residential setting would be beneficial, as would relevant qualifications and CPD.
As a teaching assistant your main duties will be:
- Supporting students with all aspects of their school day under the supervision of the class teacher. - Ensuring inclusivity within the classroom - Helping students on a 1:1 basis where additional support is needed - Communicating effectively with other members of staff, students and parents - Creating a calm and positive learning environment - Diffusing situations and managing challenging behaviours
